The Data Lifeguard Online Diagnostics service is a free web-based diagnostic utility capable of testing any manufacturers EIDE hard drive. The purpose of the Data Lifeguard Online Diagnostics service is to provide the user with an easy method to physically test the health of the hard drives installed in his system without the need to create a bootable diskette or to reboot the system.
The Downloadable Data Lifeguard Tools was written specifically for Western Digital EIDE hard drives. Its purpose is to examine the drive and test its functionality. It scans the drive and looks for errors. It even has the ability to correct certain types of errors that it may encounter.
Embedded error detection and repair features that automatically detect, isolate and repair problem areas that may develop over the extended use of the hard drive. S.M.A.R.T. monitors hard drive operation to predict errors before data loss occurs.
