The release of windows Vista will create a new wave of demand for applications that MicroISVs supply. We at Microsoft know how many new features and APIs we have added to windows Vista as well as we understand how challenging it is to start and keep a MicroISV business running.
Project Glidepath is designed to provide the knowledge you, as a MicroISV, need to be successful by providing step-by-step instructions for everything from how to get started with windows presentation foundation to how to write and publish a press release. Please give Project Glidepath a test drive and let us know what you think.
The updated compilers are the same ones that recently shipped in Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1. This SDK also includes the samples, headers, tools and libraries that shipped in the Software Development Kit for Vista in November, 2006.
This download contains the SDK only. To build .NET Framework 3.0 applications, you must have .NET Framework 3.0 Runtime Components.
This release of the SDK is intended to replace the windows SDK for Vista. If you have already installed the windows SDK for Vista and you want to install the windows SDK Update for Vista, you will need to first uninstall the windows SDK for Vista.
The windows SDK Update for Vista includes content for application development with the APIs in windows Vista, including the .NET Framework 3.0 technologies: .NET Framework 2.0, windows presentation Foundation, windows Communication Foundation, windows Workflow Foundation, and windows CardSpace. This SDK is designed for use with windows Vista (which includes Framework 3.0). The windows SDK Update for Vista also supports creating applications for windows XP, windows Server 2003 SP1, and windows Server 2003 R2. This release of the windows SDK is compatible with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and the Visual Studio 2005 extensions for .NET Framework 3.0 (WCF & WPF), November 2006 CTP.
ConnectCode barcode fonts enable barcodes in office applications and softwares that support text display.
A barcode font is a specially designed font that allows you to specify and generate barcodes on normal text characters. Using it is as simple as installing the font, loading up a text editor like Wordpad or Word and entering the text for the barcodes. The ConnectCode barcode font has been created and tested vigourously by a team with many years of experience in the Auto-ID and IT industry.
ConnectCode ships with an Encoder that can create images out of the barcode fonts and prepare raw data into a form suitable for barcode encodation. Additionally, a variety of tools, applications and source codes are provided to ease integration with third party products. This includes a Microsoft Office Macros, Crystal Reports Formulas and windows presentation foundation samples.
The fonts support symbologies such as Code39, Code 39 Extended, Code93, Code 128 Auto, Code128A, Code128B, Code128C, I2of5 (Interleaved 2 of 5), ITF14, EAN 13 (European Article Numbering), EAN 8, UPCA (Universal Product Code), UPCE, UCCEAN, ISBN, ISSN, MSI, Codabar, UPC/EAN Extension 2 and Extension 5 barcodes.
Apart from TrueType and PostScript fonts, the font pack also includes OpenType fonts that can be used in Mac OS. Additionally human readable fonts are also available for Code 39, Code 128B and I2of5 barcodes.
This version includes an Add-In for Excel that mass converts rows of data into multiple barcodes.

With the release of Microsofts latest operating system, Vista, applications interfaces may take a completely new approach leveraging the famed DirectX platform through the use of windows presentation Foundation.
AeroNotes was designed to be a simple notepad alternative using the new Aero Glass technology over the entire form using the new interface approach mentioned.
This application is controlled by right-clicking on the AeroNotes icon in the system tray or standard hot-keys, i.e. CTRL-O (Open), CTRL-S (Save).

Changes from previous version
· In this release I changed it from a toolbox style window to a normal window style so it can be minimized/maximized.
Traditional Chinese Fonts shipped with windows XP use embedded bitmaps to provide legibility at small sizes on the screen. windows presentation foundation (WPF) does not display these bitmaps but instead renders the outlines.
These outlines are not instructed (hinted) for good legibility and the results are poor. Microsoft JhengHei Regular and Bold Version 5.00 have been properly instructed for legibility at 9 point size and above in ClearType environments such as WPF. ClearType works best on LCD monitors.
The .NET Framework version 3.5 improves scalability and performance of applications with improved caching, application deployment and updating with ClickOnce, support for the broadest array of browsers and devices with ASP.NET 3.5 controls and services.
The .NET Framework is Microsofts managed code programming model for building applications that have visually stunning user experiences, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes. In addition to the .NET Framework 3.5, it includes windows presentation foundation (WPF), windows Workflow foundation (WF), windows Communication foundation (WCF), and windows CardSpace.
All known breaking changes in the .NET Framework 3.5 have been reviewed in detail. Breaking changes were made for a number of reasons, including standards compliance, customer feedback, and correctness. We have attempted to be exhaustive in documenting changes in the attached file, but believe that many of these changes will impact very few users. An example of several of the types of run-time changes follows:
- Standards Compliance: The ISO tag in System.Globalization for Kyrgyzstan was updated from KZ to KG.
- Customer Feedback: The ASP.NET project model was changed in response to customer feedback.
- Correctness: Floating point precision was increased in certain cases. This is something which was already documented in the CLI specification as being possible.
The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 CTP is a preview release of the latest version of the .NET Framework Many ISVs, enterprises and Microsoft product teams are successfully building on the new features windows Workflow foundation (WF), windows Communication foundation (WCF), windows presentation foundation (WPF) and windows CardSpace in the .NET Framework 3.0.
Microsoft plans to continue to invest in the .NET Framework developer platform and in support of existing users the .NET Framework 3.5 has a minimal number of breaking changes. So that existing applications built for .NET Framework 2.0 or .NET Framework 3.0 should continue to run without requiring changes.
The .NET Framework 3.5 adds new features in several major technology areas; including:
· Deep integration of Language Integrated Query (LINQ) and data awareness

· New classes in the base class library (BCL) for the .NET Framework 3.5 address the most common customer requests.
.NET Framework 3.5 is planned to release at the end of 2007 and will ship with Visual Studio code name Orcas and will also continue to be available for separate download from MSDN.

Compatability with windows Vista Beta2
This CTP (Community Tech Preview) is intended for users of windows Vista build 5456, windows XP, or windows 2003 Server. It is not supported for users running the windows Vista Beta 2 for .NET Framework 3.0 development. If you are using windows Vista Beta 2 for .NET Framework 3.0 development, we recommend that you do not install this version of the CTP and instead use the Beta 2 release. The .NET Framework 3.0 June CTP runtime is a later version than the one that ships with windows Vista Beta 2, and code that uses the .NET Framework 3.0 Beta2 will not work with this CTP.
Note: This is a pre-RTM release. Therefore, do not install these builds on machines you depend on. If you have a previous version of Avalon ("Windows presentation Foundation"), Indigo ("Windows Communication Foundation"), or pre-released versions of .NET Framework 2.0 installed you must read this before download. Late breaking installation information: please follow the instruction in section 2.1 of the readme before installing .NET Framework 3.0 June CTP.
Requirements:
· Supported Operating Systems: Longhorn (Windows Code Name) ; windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1; windows XP Service Pack 2
· Supported Visual Studio tool set: RTM release of Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio Express
· 400 megahertz (MHz) Pentium processor
· 96 megabytes (MB)
