DVDx 2.20 is a helpful tool used to transfer DVD to VCD2.0 or SCVD1.0 or DivX easily (Including multiplexing, splitting) . It is for unexperimented users, it is a simple and intuitive program. You only need Nero to write your VCD/SVCD.
It produces good quality movies in MPEG1/2 format and you don't need to have 5GB or more free on your hard disk.
DVDx produces high quality MPEG and AVI movies and advanced features provide smart settings for experimented users.
DVDx is likely the fastest solution ever to copy a DVD into a DivX file because the DVD reading (and decrypting) is done while encoding to DivX.
Alternative solutions require to copy the DVD to the hard drive with DVD Decrypter (or SmartRipper or any other DVD ripping software) which takes about 30 minutes, and then the encoding time is added. So with a 75FPS encoding speed for a 1:30 PAL (25FPS) movie, the total ripping time of alternative software is 1 hour. While DVDx will take less than 32 minutes (at 72FPS).
On a consumer HP Pavilion with a Intel Pentium 830D, the encoding DVDx frame rate is 72FPS with DivX Pro 6.1.1 and later.
To encode to MPEG VCD/SVCD with the internal encoder or to encode to Windows Media, DVDx is also the fastest solution for the same reason.
- Code improvement:
- fix 698 memory leaks due to multi-language error strings which weren't unallocated and 10 others due to skin objects, 12 others due to heap allocations (new), 62 others due to DVD IFO data structure. And 100s of strings in debug console.
- MPEG-2 encoding:
- added 2 new profiles: CVD (China Video Disc) and DVD (default DVD-LP, 6000Kbps) both with audio 48kHz which must be set in Input Settings dialog.
- set CVD/DVD GOP to 18 frames for NTSC (15 for PAL), so compliant with DVD authoring applications.
- WMV encoding:
- fix charches due to pointer bugs in handling IWM interfaces.
- GUI:
- fixed bug in About dialog box which caused DVDx to crash in Debug/DebugP4 and unpredictable effects in all versions (Release/Release_RipperFree/NoOptim)
- SIMD (SSE2) optimizations:
- replaced MOVQ xmm,m64 (rejected by VC9 compiler) with MOVQ xmm,qword ptr m64 and MOVQ m64,xmm with MOVQ qword ptr m64,xmm

When the program launches, write your search term on the box and press enter, or the magnifier icon. You will notice that the mouse pointer changes, an indication that something is happening. After a while (depending on your internet connection) text and images will start appearing on the screen. On the left text box titles are displayed. If you click on one of them, its text will appear on the main text box. Text that appears on the main box is the summary of our search term, which is usually the first paragraphs -according to the wikipedia guidelines on how to write an article!
The text box located on the right of our program, contains wikipedia links founded on the article we are searching for. If you press one of them, a new search will start, with this keyword. After the first ten images are displayed, place the mouse pointer on one of them, and you will see the text accompanying the image on the wikipedia article, if there is one. If the page has less than ten images (or if it doesnt have any images at all), indywiki searches links of that page and displays their images, provided they have not been displayed before. If you notice the column character on one of the titles, the name before the column refers to the page where we got that image, and the string after the column is that images description. After you have searched for a link and got back the result images, you can press the right arrow, that is on the upper side of the application. The application will try to fetch and display the next 10 images, if they exist, otherwise it will bring the images of the links found on the page we were looking for.Similarly you can press the left arrow and the application will display the previous ten images.<<less
