Hostess 4.100 is a free utility for maintaining your HOSTS file. Hostess is geared towards ad-blocking rather than IP address resolution.
Hostess stores your host entries in a database that is indexed to eliminate duplicates and make searching fast and easy. It also allows you to group these hosts for efficiency and ease of maintenance.
Messing with the HOSTS file is not for the inexperienced user. There is the possibility of undesirable and sometimes difficult to troubleshoot effects on your Internet and network connectivity. The documentation included with Hostess gives only a basic overview of how the HOSTS file works. Better sources of such information can be found by doing a web search for "HOSTS file".
Hostess has been designed to make things easy for the experienced HOSTS jockey, someone that wants a fine degree of control over what goes into (and stays out of) their HOSTS file.
Enhancements:
- Hostess now supports imports and exports in plain text format!
- The command line options were reworked to allow for the new features, and the menu shortcuts were updated so they don't conflict with common text editing shortcuts like Ctrl-V for Paste.

Host 1.1
Host is a command prompt Windows utility ported from FreeBSD Host utility. more>> Host is a command prompt Windows utility ported from FreeBSD Host utility.
Host looks for information about Internet hosts. It gets this information from a set of interconnected servers that are spread across the world.
By default, it simply converts between host names and Internet addresses.
However, with the [-d] or [-a] options, it can be used to find all of the information about this host that is maintained by the domain server (A, MX, NS records, TTL).
The arguments can be either host names or host numbers. The program first attempts to interpret them as host numbers. If this fails, it will treat them as host names. A host number consists of IPv4 dotted decimal quad (127.0.0.1). A host name consists of names separated by dots, e.g. www.itsamples.com.<<less

HostsMaster 2.51
HostsMaster will optimize your Hosts File and make your PC run faster. more>>
HM will BACKUP your Hosts File, and then optimize it. It will remove blank lines and unneeded text, create an area at the top for you to place your "favorites," find, identify, and remove duplicate entries, alphabetically sort, and then generate a more efficient Hosts File which will replace the original.
HostsMaster also can create a data file for the HostsJacker Utility.
Over time, as you add entries to your Hosts File, its easy for it to become "bloated" with duplicate lines and unneeded text. Also, some Hosts Files that you download from on-line sources will contain duplicate entries, blank lines, and text youll never read or use.
Other Hosts Files may not work at all because they do not faithfully follow Microsoft formatting guidelines. Just run the HostsMaster Utility to clean up your Hosts File.

HostsCleaner 1.02
HostsCleaner thoroughly scans YOUR Hosts file, whether its one youve downloaded from an on-line source, or created yourself, a more>>
When you run it from time to time, it checks your Hosts file, after its been optimized by HostsMaster, using a database which is up-dated monthly.
HostsCleaner thoroughly scans YOUR Hosts file, whether its one youve downloaded from an on-line source, or created yourself, and removes non-responsive DEAD domains from it; the ONLY proviso is that YOUR Hosts File MUST have been optimized using the HM (HostsMaster) Utility.
This program will crash if it detects a non-HM optimized Hosts File.
HostsCleaner can reduce the size of your file and this way it will only improve your Internet browsing speed. When it completes its run, HC will write a new "cleaned up" Hosts File and backup.
Running HM.exe first is mandatory, as HM will create a fresh backup to your existing Hosts File which will be named Hosts.org where org = original. HC will automatically detect your Windows OS version and then execute itself in a DOS window.
If you should get an error message you do not understand, make sure you have run HM, our HostsMaster Utility, and that both the file named Hosts AND Hosts.org exist in the same default path. See below for the proper path which is based on your operating system.
